wearable breast pumps are truly an amazing tool — they are convenient for on the go, discrete to barely notice you are pumping, and they are in general, EASY. but what do you need to know, like the down and dirty about wearable breast pumps in order to make them work for your schedule, your ability, your body and family!!!

wearable pumps as a rule will always be your secondary pump. these style of pumps do not have the power to remove the full amount of your milk supply. the way they are created, the motor typically isn’t strong enough for the purpose of your main pump. hence — the secondary pump.

you need to choose what fits best into your life, and what you have the capacity to do. if using a wearable pump allows you to add another pump session into your daily routine, instead of skipping it and becoming concerned at how you can feed your baby? use the wearable pump.

“what happens if i get the same amount of milk output with my wearable pumps AND with my primary/wall pump?” this can mean a few things —

1. it could mean that you aren’t using the settings on your standard primary pump correctly, or most efficiently with the lactation rhythms in your body. (aka you could be getting more letdowns and more milk expressed, but aren’t right now)
2. or it could mean that the pumps you have are not supporting your body and milk supply in the way we anticipate.

soooo what can you do about this?? LIKE SOS HELP PLZ.

you’re gonna make sure you have a nipple measuring tool, and you’ll make sure you’re using the correct flange size. this is literally the very first thing i check with my clients, it is the key 🔑 to full milk removal!!! download your FREE nipple sizing tool here if you need one!
